چکیده

Liposomes are one of the most well-known and promising nanoscale drug delivery systems. Liposomal medicinal products successfully used in clinical practice for cardiovascular, oncological, dermatological, other indications. The development liposomes their widespread implementation relevant tasks. aim study was to summarise analyse scientific data regarding structure, composition, classification liposomes, as well specific aspects liposome production methods. This review covers up-to-date information on marketed liposomal products. authors illustrate how methods affect composition structure liposomes. size lamellarity important characteristics that determine encapsulation efficiency biodistribution active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). choice excipients depends intended use article summarises main methods, highlighting usage aspects, advantages disadvantages. Conventional easy apply do not require complex equipment, principal disadvantages include low API within high complexity scaling up technological processes. pay special attention microfluidic techniques preparation, which characterised by a highly controlled process (in terms distribution lamellarity), reproducibility, scalability level industrial applicable encapsulating different APIs.

Liposomes as drug carriers.

Liposomes are artificially prepared vesicles made of lipid bilayer. Liposomes can be filled with drugs, and used to deliver drugs for cancer and other diseases. Amongst the various carrier, few drug carrier reached the stages of clinical trails where phospholipid vesicles (liposome) show strong potential for effective drug delivery to the site of action. Liposomes can be composed of naturally-d...

Availability of liposomes as drug carriers to the brain.

Phospholipid vesicles, also known as liposomes, were examined for their ability to act as a drug carrier to the brain. 9-Amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine (THA), a centrally acting acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, was used as a model drug. THA was encapsulated in dehydration-rehydration vesicles (DRV) composed of egg yolk phosphatidylcholine, cholesterol and dipalmitoyl-phosphatidic acid (molar r...

Nano- or submicron-sized liposomes as carriers for drug delivery.

Liposomes are tiny spheres ranging in diameters from 50 nm to several microns. The scope of this mini review is to introduce the concept of liposomes and to describe some aspects and mechanisms of stimulating topical and injectable products with liposomes. Two examples discussed in this article are topical delivery across skin and injectable formulations for anticancer drugs. Classic liposomes ...

Elastic liposomes as novel carriers: recent advances in drug delivery

Elastic liposomes (EL) are some of the most versatile deformable vesicular carriers that comprise physiologically biocompatible lipids and surfactants for the delivery of numerous challenging molecules and have marked advantages over other colloidal systems. They have been investigated for a wide range of applications in pharmaceutical technology through topical, transdermal, nasal, and oral ro...

Preparation and properties of polyhydroxybutyrate microspheres as drug carriers

Designing of controlled-release drug delivery systems is a promising and rapidly developing line of pharmacology. The main advantage of using drug delivery systems is that drug concentration in a patient’s blood and/or tissues can be maintained at a target level for an extended time (Kost 2001). The principal requirement for fabricating prolonged-action controlled-release drug delivery systems ...
